In May 2019, the first ever inter-generational Wipeout Dementia was held with 16 father/son, father/daughter and uncle/nephew duos aged from 10 to 70 years teaming up to surf at Queenscliff Beach, spreading the message of physical activity throughout the lifespan to reduce risk of dementia. The inaugural property industry Wipeout Dementia ran at Bondi Beach in November 2016. A second event was held in November 2015, with then NSW Premier Mike Baird participating in the campaign. Wipeout Dementia kicked off in May 2015 with then Prime Minister Tony Abbott participating. The Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) has now held twelve events, raising over $2.2 million towards critical research. Wipeout Dementia returned to Bondi Beach on Friday 24 March 2023, with seven teams of surfers from the property industry raising over $225,000 to support research into Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
